Need to take the softener offline first? See bypassing a Clack softener.
All Makes and Models
Clear Water Filtration services all makes and models of water treatment equipment, including systems installed by other companies. Our service vehicles carry common parts, and our Waitsfield shop can often make what is not on the truck, so most visits end with the system back in service.
If you are not sure what you have, tell us the brand and model printed on the unit when you request service and we will bring the right parts.
Symptoms We See Most
Most water softener repair calls start with one of a handful of symptoms. Here is what usually sits behind each one and what our technicians do about it.
Hard water returning overnight usually means the softener is not regenerating: a salt bridge in the brine tank, exhausted or fouled resin, or a bypass valve left in the wrong position after other plumbing work. We check the bypass and salt first, run a manual regeneration, and test the resin before recommending anything more.
A hard crust of salt can form above the water line and keep the brine from reaching the resin, so the tank looks full while the softener runs dry. We break up the bridge, clean the brine tank, and check the float and brine line so the problem does not come back.
A slow faucet or an off taste from an RO system usually points to spent pre-filters, a membrane past its life, or low pressure in the storage tank. We replace the filters and membrane as needed, recharge or replace the tank, and sanitize the system.
UV lamps lose output well before they burn out, and Viqua systems sound an alarm when intensity drops or lamp hours run out. We replace the lamp, clean or replace the quartz sleeve, and confirm the sensor reads correctly. If your home runs both, ask us to fold annual lamp replacement into your water softener service visit.
Falling pressure or orange and black staining coming back usually means clogged filter media or an iron filter that is not regenerating. We backwash or replace the media, check the control valve, and retest the water so you know the fix took.
Stay on Schedule
A service plan takes the calendar off your plate. Each visit covers scheduled filter and media replacement, system inspections and tune-ups, water quality retesting, and salt delivery and replenishment for water softening systems, on a schedule matched to your equipment and your water.
Compare the schedules on our residential service plans page, or request service for a one-time visit. If you would rather check a setting yourself first, our product manuals page collects the owner guides for the systems we carry.
Yes. We service all makes and models, including systems installed by other companies. For less common equipment we may need to order parts before the repair is finished. If a unit is beyond economical repair, we tell you so and quote a replacement matched to your current water test.
Flexible Service Schedules
We offer maintenance on multiple schedules to match your system requirements and usage patterns.
Ideal for commercial and industrial systems with high usage rates that require frequent monitoring and media replenishment.
Popular for businesses and homes with complex treatment trains that benefit from regular professional attention and water quality verification.
The standard for most residential water treatment systems, including comprehensive system inspection, filter replacement, and performance verification.
For straightforward residential systems with lower service demands, every-two-year visits keep your equipment running smoothly.
